    Welcome back guys! This go round I'm learning to cook! Cooking has been a long time nemesis of mine, and I thought now would be a good time to learn before leaving the house and my mother's cooking. The way I am planning to learn to cook is by trial and error along with acquiring my Mother and Grandmother's help. Both of them can cook quite well so I hope if I hang around them enough I'll pick up some of their skills.     I will use the lessons of fortitude and self positivity to help me to continue on even after some burnt meals. The way I will know if I succeeded is if I can cook a three course meal. I am planning on getting good at cooking breakfast, lunch, and dinner.   Thank you and best of luck on learning your new skills !

    Hey guys!! I hope all is going well for you guys! I realized that last week I said in my blog that it was the last week of genius hour, but I guess I was wrong. So because we do have this week I decided to learn colors. Colors recently came up in my pathway and I knew none. Yikes.          To my surprise colors were incredibly fun and easy to learn! The colors I learned are yellow, red, blue, green, orange, silver, pink, purple, gold, white, and gray. These were all pretty easy to learn and the way you signed the majority of them was to make the sign of the letter the color starts with and shake it.          Since this actually is the last genius hour, thank you all for the positive comments on my blog! I have enjoyed looking at all your blogs! I have copied a visual of how to sign four colors :)

           Hey guys, I hope you all have had a great week so far ! This week is a wrap up week and because of that I have decided to practice my opening sentence for my shark tank presentation. I also reviewed all of my previous lessons and words that I have learned. It's crazy to think this our last week of genius hour!     While I have learned a good amount of sign through out this time, I believe that sign is something you continue to build and add onto over time. I think the more I'm around people in the deaf community and people who use sign communicate the more I will improve. I hope that the more time I spend using sign in the deaf the community that my vocabulary will broaden and signing will become efficient.     Thank you all for the positive comments and interest shown on blogs!       Hey guys! Welcome back to the blog! I haven't been following my initial outline very closely, I thought why not shake things up again and take his week to learn about the ASL culture! I read a couple articles that really gave me some insightful knowledge. The first article I read was from Minnesota Hands and Voices. The article talked about the deaf community and the benefits of being involved in it. Being involved helps improve one's self esteem, gain fellowship and respect the use of sign language.      The second article I pretty much covered the same topics as the first one. It talked a bit more about how to properly identify a deaf person. The appropriate terms are "hard of hearing" or "deaf". Offensive terms toward a deaf person is "disabled" or "hearing impaired" are offensive. I also watched a video on negation in ASL. To make a sentence negative the most efficient technique is to shake your head.      All in all this week w...

  Hey guys! I know in last week's blog I said I was going to learn numbers in ASL, but I changed my mind. I was starting to forget some words I've learned in previous weeks, so I opted for a review week. I decided to go back through old notes and rewatch the YouTube videos I learned from! The words I'd forgotten were school, we, they, clean up, tomorrow and yesterday.   I decided to practice each forgotten word five times. After I made sure I got those down I practiced some sentences.     Hello and welcome back to my blog! This week I learned sentence structure in ASL. Honestly I'm very surprised at how simple sentence structure really is in ASL. Here's an example of a common sentence and its structure in ASL. "My brother walks home everyday" in ASL is Everyday my brother walks home.  The reason for this is that American Sign Language has a general format used for sentences. It goes like this: Time + Topic + Comment. I had to learn some time vocabulary to be able to make some sentences. What I mean by time is not three thirty or 5 o'clock. The words I learned are week,everyday, the days of the week, weekend, today, tomorrow and yesterday.      This week made me realize that  I want to revise my schedule. Next I think I'm going to learn numbers in in ASL, because I will most likely need them when working with children.                 Welcome back to my blog ! This week I learned eighteen vocabulary words and two short phrases! I didn't have a specific topic or group of words I was trying to learn. I just learned eighteen  words and two short phrases I thought would be most useful in my future job, pathway, and when working with kids in general. It was incredibly fun to learn!     Here is a list of the 20 words I learned : Home, school, car, book, all done, clean up, more, stop, walk, run, please, thank you, mom, dad, brother, sister, we, they, shoes, and parents. For the most part the majority if the words were easy to learn, but four them I had a difficult time mastering. For some unknown reason all done  was really tricky. It's a swooping motion and I had a hard time remembering it. The next one that tricked me was brother  it's a word that requires two hands and I kept messing it up. They and parents gave me troubles too.  ...
